How close can you live to nature without changing your postcode? In Vilnius, the second largest city in the Baltic states, there is a loft that reconciles city life with tranquillity. Walls and custom elements in Master Oak all bring the nearby national park indoors. Here, biophilic design is not a concept, but a feeling.
An interior that momentarily puts the city on mute: is that possible in an international city like Vilnius? Absolutely. On the top floor of the residential project Miško Ardai, Studio Archispektras created a penthouse that brings the peace and calm of nature inside without leaving the city. The warm wood texture of Master Oak light natural reflects the forest glimpsed through the windows. Every grain, every depth of the surface captures a piece of the landscape.
What if the premium feel of a Lufthansa flight didn’t begin on board, but already at the gate? That’s precisely the idea behind the airline’s new lounge at Newark Liberty International Airport in New York. Step inside the 600 m² space and you’ll be welcomed by warm oak tones, soft lighting and a streamlined layout—that brings the elegance of their aircraft interiors to the ground.
At the heart of the new look? Our bestseller Unilin Master Oak Light Natural. Used throughout the lounge, the material adds a calming, natural touch to the busy airport environment. It looks and feels exactly like oak veneer, but comes with extra’s: better scratch resistance, easy maintenance and a more budget-friendly alternative to veneer or solid wood.
Why choose between the allure of tradition and the practicality of modern design when you can have both? In Mohawk’s 10,000 sq. ft. Chicago showroom, located in the heart of Fulton Market — the future of the design community — Master Oak proves there’s no need to compromise.
Crafted into sleek cabinetry, it pairs the natural beauty of rift white oak veneer with a surface that’s three times more scratch-resistant, durable, and easy to maintain.
Coming home to the office every day. Sounds good, right? At the new headquarters of construction company Van Wanrooij, Inbo Architect made this possible thanks to a large open space that reduces the distance between the different departments. The eye-catcher? The cabinet wall that runs over three floors and is finished with Master Oak Light Natural.
The new headquarters in Den Bosch had to retain the “Van Wanrooij feeling”. "So we were looking for a material that radiates heat but can also withstand impact. In addition, it had to be available quickly in large quantities and in HPL, melamine and edging tape," says Berry Boelens from B-M Interieurs. Master Oak turned out to be the perfect match!
Looking for the ultimate proof that HPL for interior doors is the perfect choice for your next project? Even the masters of furniture making and interior design chose Unilin HPL for the interior of their new buildings.
“Originally, the idea was to go for solid oak, but when we saw Unilin’s Master Oak HPL, we were sold right away!” says Franck Souchet of Guitteny. The combination of an authentic matt look, high scratch resistance and durability was exactly what they were looking for.
When something seems too good to be true, it usually is. Except with Master Oak. As Fugazzi architect Tom Vanwynsberghe discovered during the design of the new shop layout of the House of Hairdressers. Master Oak not only combines the look but also the feel of solid oak but with the durable scratch resistance of melamine and HPL.
The new look of the busy hairdresser’s shop required a mix of naturalness – which is in keeping with the product range in the shop – and easy-care. "The swirling hairs are razor sharp and destroy everything", explains Tom. Sustainable melamine faced walls and shelving with a fresh and natural veneer look are therefore the perfect application in this project.
Trying to attract the brightest minds of today and tomorrow? An absolute breeze for Lighthouse! How? With an office design with a real wow-factor, unlimited ambition and exceptional playfulness in which Master Oak plays the leading role. Thanks to its wide range of applications, with wall panels and shelving, table tops and edging tape, Master Oak forms a common – or oak – thread throughout this modern office design.
"We wanted to work with materials that are hot,", says Buro Project partner Jurgen Taeldeman, "and wood structures and light wood colours are very popular these days. Master Oak Natural fulfils this wish perfectly and at the same time will be able to withstand the future thanks to its scratch-resistance and colour fastness. Jurgen concludes: "Master Oak is really tough and will retain its solid wood appearancein the long term. Its wide range of possible applications makes Master Oak the go-to material for a fashionable, heavily-used office environment".
